Jessica Hang’s multi-disciplinary work is situated at the nexus of erasure and visibility, with a focus on sexualized racism and transnational migrant identity. She achieves this by visually translating the linguistic potential in both natural and man-made materials, encompassing wide-ranging materials from oyster shells to coding scripts. Drawing on her personal experiences with neurodiversity and dyslexia, Hang transforms the way we access the realities of oppression through a reverse methodology of material to visuals to language.

Born and currently working in Chinatown, L.A. as a second-generation Taiwanese-Vietnamese-American, her work pushes geographical and cultural boundaries both globally and within the Asian diaspora community. Her drawings, sculptural and photographic work have been exhibited in L.A., New York, Houston and Tokyo.
